World Flags Quiz: 99 Flags, 3 Levels, Beat the Timer

Can you name a country from nothing but its flag, and do it before the clock hits zero? This world flags quiz puts that to the test. It holds 99 real national flags, split into three difficulty levels, and every question is a race against a countdown. There is nothing to install and no account to create. Open it on a phone, tablet or computer and play.

How a Round Works

Each game is 10 questions. You see one flag and four country names, and you tap the one you think is right. The timer bar shrinks as you think, and it turns red in the final three seconds. If it runs out, the correct answer is shown and the game moves on. A streak counter (🔥) rewards you for answering correctly several times in a row.

Every correct answer earns 10 base points plus one point for each second still left on the clock. That total is then multiplied by the level you chose, so a quick answer on Hard is worth much more than a slow one on Easy. Your best score for each level is saved in your browser.

Choose Your Level

LevelFlags in the poolSeconds per flagScore multiplier
Easy29 widely known flags15x1
Medium30 familiar but trickier flags10x2
Hard40 rare flags and near twins7x3

Wrong answer choices are always taken from the same level as the question, so the options on Hard are deliberately close to each other.

Flags That Are Easy to Mix Up

The Hard level is built around flags that people confuse. A few pairs to study before you try it:

  • Ireland and Ivory Coast: both use green, white and orange in three vertical bands, but in opposite order.
  • Romania and Chad: both are blue, yellow and red verticals. Chad's blue is a slightly deeper shade.
  • Indonesia and Poland: both are two horizontal bands of red and white, flipped upside down relative to each other.
  • Mali, Guinea and Senegal: all use green, yellow and red. Look at the order and for the star on Senegal.
  • Yemen, Egypt and Syria: red, white and black stripes, told apart by the emblem or stars in the middle.

Ways to Learn Flags Faster

  • Begin with Easy so you build a base of famous flags, then move up once you score 8 or more.
  • Sort flags into families: tricolours, Nordic crosses, crescent-and-star flags and flags with a canton.
  • When two flags look alike, say out loud what separates them, such as the stripe order.
  • Short daily rounds work better than one long session, because you meet the same flags again after a break.
